CCA News: May Edition

In this final edition of our 2024-2025 CCA Newsletter, we break from our usual format to highlight two of the men who have led our school. As pastors, they both serve Christ Church Academy with their unique roles as Superintendent and Principal.

Pastor Brandon Nealy, the founder of Christ Church and Christ Church Academy, is not only a pastor, but also a father and a teacher. He teaches 7-9th grade Greek and 11th-12th grade Rhetoric. Along with these, he has taught High School Humanities, Middle School Composition, and many other classes throughout his life. Pastor Brandon has four kids: Shirah, Adeline, Jude, and Amelia Nealy. His wife is Mrs. Emily Nealy, who has also taught at CCA. Outside of school, Pastor Brandon likes to fish, golf, and cook. Pastor Brandon is essential to CCA, and without him the school wouldn’t be here.

I like that I get to study the Bible everyday.

How long have you been teaching/pastoring?

He is a father of six children: Scarlet, Sawyer, Seth, Sierra, Silas, and Savannah. He teaches High School Humanities to the Juniors and Seniors. He is also Christ Church’s music leader. Along with these things, he still finds the time to teach guitar lessons, learn accordion, and run regularly. This shows how hardworking our principal is. Class of 2025

Roman Alexander

Roman Alexander, born on June 3, 2007, is the son of Claire and Cortney Alexander. He enjoys powersports such as dirt-biking and go-karting. His favorite subject so far has been Math. After his first and final year as a CCA student, his favorite memory was hiking at Kisatchie with 7th – 12th grade. His short-term goals are to finish writing a speech and have lunch. Long-term, he wants to become a Mechanical Engineer and develop cars. His favorite verse is Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” When asked, “What would you tell future students at CCA?” he said, “Uh, work hard?”

Jessica Hasty

Jessica Hasty was born on November 18, 2006 to Jeremy and Julie Hasty in Georgia, where she grew up. Her family later moved to Lafayette, Louisiana. She is one of five in her family, being the second youngest. Jessica loves to crochet, read, listen to music, Cajun dance, drive, and to spend time with her best friend and sister, Jaeda. Science is her number one favorite subject, but Public Speaking has been her favorite class this year. She enjoyed the freedom of fun topics. The future holds so much for her and she is most excited to work and do what the Lord has called her to do. Jessica is such a kind, caring, and overall lovable woman of God.

Lucas Kidder

Lucas Kidder, born September 7th, 2007, is one of the five seniors here. He is 17 years old and his hobbies include playing guitar, weight lifting, and eating. His favorite subject is Public Speaking. Lucas’s favorite memory of CCA is playing football with the boys. He hopes the future students will prosper and walk in Jesus’ steps with perseverance and diligence.

Lucas’ words for the younger students at CCA: “Don’t give up and don’t get lazy, keep persevering, guys.”

Madie Marsalis

Madie Rae Marsalis was born September 25th, 2007, to Candice Gigl. This was Madie’s first year at CCA, and she has quickly grown in our hearts as a loving friend. Madie enjoys crochet, hanging out with friends, Cajun dancing, and watching movies. Her favorite subject this year has been Economics because “it’s actually something I can use.” She plans to continue working and saving to go Cosmetology school, but most importantly, she wants to be a wife and a mother. Her favorite Scripture passage is Psalm 4:8 because “This verse has reminded me amidst difficult times that God wants us to have peace and rest; and that He is my comfort and protection.”

Adeline Nealy

Addy was born on March 23, 2007, to Pastor Brandon and Emily Nealy. She was born and raised in south Louisiana. While at home Addy usually draws, plays violin, tends to her cows, or gardens. One quote that applies to Addy’s life, and any other artist’s, is a quote by her dad, Pastor Brandon. “Art is not about making money or proving yourself, it’s about glorifying God by creating beautiful things with the skills He gave you.” Addy wants the returning students of CCA to know: “The better you pay attention to what your teachers are saying, the better life will go for you.”

I asked her what her hopes were for future students and she said, “Do better.”

Thank you to our Student Editor and to the writers each month who did their very best to contact teachers, talk with students, and bring us the best articles they could! It’s been an honor to be your teacher (and chief editor) this past year. – Ms. Belle Roseberry
